Cebu City concluded its hosting of the Palarong Pambansa 2024 with the National Capital Region (NCR) emerging as the undisputed overall champion. The week-long tournament, featuring 28 sports events held from July 11 to 15 across various venues, drew around 2,000 delegates from all corners of the Philippines.
Meanwhile, Maasin City showcased its athletic talent at the Palarong Pambansa 2024 in Cebu, as two of its standout athletes clinched gold medals in their respective sporting events.
Frenchezka L. Lacerna from Maasin City Sped Center and JC C. Jualo from Maasin City National High School delivered outstanding performances, contributing to Eastern Visayas’ commendable 7th place overall finish.
Frenchezka L. Lacerna demonstrated exceptional skill in the martial art sport of Arnis, securing the gold in the Individual Likha Anyo Single Weapon event. Her victory highlighted her dedication and proficiency in her sport.
Meanwhile, JC C. Jualo’s triumph in Pencak Silat Class D – Over 51kg up to 53 kg Secondary Boys added another gold to Maasin City’s tally. Representing Maasin City National High School, Jualo displayed resilience and talent in a fiercely competitive field, earning recognition for his remarkable achievement.
The Palarong Pambansa 2024 concluded with a vibrant closing ceremony, where flags representing participating regions made their ceremonial exit, marking the end of an exhilarating week of competition. Maasin City’s success underscored the city’s commitment to nurturing young athletes and promoting sports excellence.
As the Curtains drew on this year’s edition, athletes like Lacerna and Jualo are set to inspire future generations, continuing to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and achievement in Philippine sports.
