8 Southern Leyteños qualify for science scholarship

Southern Leyte Provincial Science and Technology Center announced on Friday, August 13, that the province has eight students qualified for the Junior Level Science Scholarships (JLSS), a program for incoming regular third year college students who are enrolled in Science and Technology courses.
These students are: Leevi May Bascug (SLSU-Tomas Oppus), Jenelyn Diola (SLSU- Bontoc), Lawrence Jovita (SLSU-Tomas Oppus), Kyla Franchesca Suhillo (SLSU-San Juan), Jovan Tagra (Saint Joseph College), Linimel Tidalgo (SLSU-Bontoc), Roldan Bihay ( SLSU-Bontoc), and Eden Vina Grate (SLSU-Sogod).
The eight scholars are part of the 52 qualifiers in Region 8. The 2020 qualifiers were selected through the E-scholarship Application System screenings.
In a press release, Provincial Science & Technology Director Florita Santiago said that numerous benefits are guaranteed to the eight students for two to three years. They will be granted tuition subsidy, monthly allowance, and book allowance among others.
In return, scholars have to render service in the country once they finish their undergraduate studies, “for a period equivalent to the length of the scholarship coverage,” DOST-SEI said. (Jeric Olay)
