As we celebrated the 65th Founding Anniversary of Southern Leyte, I found myself reflecting on the many blessings my family and I have received since we chose to return to our beloved province.
Since 1999, by God’s grace, we have been guided in establishing Southern Leyte’s very own community newspaper. We have been blessed with a close-knit, healthy family; our law practice has flourished; and most importantly, our daily needs have been met, allowing us to live a fulfilling and meaningful life here in the province.
I am deeply grateful to the Lord for His answered prayers. I am equally thankful to Southern Leyte, a land that has embraced me and opened doors to many opportunities for both personal and professional growth.
With this gratitude in my heart, I offer three anniversary wishes for our province, simple yet sincere hopes to help Southern Leyte progress and reach its fullest potential.
My Wishes for Southern Leyte
1.Agricultural Independence: I wish for Southern Leyte to achieve agricultural self-sufficiency, where we grow what we eat, and our farms thrive without heavy reliance on produce from other provinces or countries. Let us empower our local farmers and harness the richness of our land;
2.Support for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs): I wish for our small and medium-sized businesses, the backbone of our local economy and key contributors to our taxes, to receive consistent, meaningful support from both our local and national governments. With the right government policies and programs, these businesses can easily create jobs, inspire innovation, and drive inclusive growth; and
3.Widespread Prosperity for Southern Leyteños: I wish for every Southern Leyteño to live in dignity, with a safe home, a steady income, a thriving livelihood, and real opportunities to reach their full potential. No dream should be out of reach for anyone in our beloved province.
To the land and people of Southern Leyte, Happy 65th Founding Anniversary. May every Southern Leyteño’s dream come true.
