CM soars high at 100

The College of Maasin (TCM) on its centennial year celebrates a milestone of lasting memories, necessary changes, difficult challenges, selfless contributions from supporters, remarkable growth, and blessings from the most high.
A young and intelligent man, Angel C. Espina, fulfilled his dream of establishing a school for the youth in his community. Educated in Silliman Institute, now Silliman University, ordained minister Espina founded Maasin Institute (MI) on August 25, 1924, fueled by his passion and dedication to help students pursue secondary education.
Maasin Institute was CM’s original name, with its timeless motto of Nisi Dominus Frustra (Without God in Vain) which is ingrained in the alumni that the school produced.
MI started to offer collegiate programs such as Teacher Education and Liberal Arts after World War II. And in 1963, thirty nine years later, Maasin Institute was renamed The College of Maasin (TCM), which remains until today. In 1971, the founder with his family donated the school to the United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP).
The school has come a long way, from a handful of students who excelled in their chosen endeavors and made its province proud, to an academic institution that offers reputable courses and programs like Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Juris Doctor. Its Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, with consistent 100% passing average in the Nursing Licensure Examination, has brought honor to the school and community being recognized as Top Ranked in the county. Its Juris Doctor program has also produced lawyers who are successful in serving the private and public sector.
Graduates in its other courses have become great assets in the field of work or business where they are at.
TCM offers Basic Education from Pre-Elementary, Elementary and Junior High School; Senior High School tract and strands; Assessment Center, Undergraduate and Graduate programs, post graduate, and TESDA programs.
The outstanding performance and relevance of The College of Maasin is ably sustained by its dedicated faculty, administrators, and staff led by its President, Reverend Dr. Zuriel Teimpo, as well as the parents, students, alumni and friends. (GMReyes)
