COMELEC tests new automated counting machines

Members of the local media, office heads, and aspiring candidates in Southern Leyte participated in a mock election on December 2, 2024, testing the Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) new Automated Counting Machines. The event, part of a nationwide roadshow, aimed to demonstrate the voting and counting process in preparation for the 2025 elections.


The mock election was conducted across the province at various venues, including Poblacion Barangay Hall in Anahawan, Hilaan Barangay Gymnasium in Bontoc, LGU Municipal Hall Annex Building in Hinunangan, Hinundayan Municipal Gym in District 2, the Pangi Basketball Gym in Libagon, the Conference Hall of LGU Building 1 in Liloan, and the Municipal Building Lobby in Limasawa. In Maasin City, the activity was held at the Maasin City Gymnasium, while Macrohon hosted it at Barangay Mohon Multi-Purpose Training Center.
Other venues were in Malitbog’s New Public Transportation Terminal, Barangay Cantutang Gym in Padre Burgos, Barangay San Roque Covered Court in Pintuyan.
