Dengue cases decrease in Southern Leyte

In a recent data forwarded by the Provincial Department of Health Disease Surveillance Office, Dengue cases in Southern Leyte decreased. As of July, 2023 only 174 dengue cases were recorded, compared to the last year’s record in June with 565 cases.
Padre Burgos has the highest dengue cases with 50, followed by Maasin City with 48 cases. Macrohon has 26 cases, Malitbog town with 10 and Sogod with 8 cases.
San Juan and Liloan had five cases each; four each for Limasawa and San Ricardo, while Libagon had 3 cases.
Hinunangan, Saint Bernard, San Francisco, Silago and Tomas Oppus with two cases each, and Bontoc with one case.
Last year, 2022, dengue cases reached 1,549; eight persons died from this number, according to Provincial Department of Heath Disease Surveillance Officer Joewil Napuli.
