Disaster council suspends land travel from Luzon to Mindanao

The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council issued a memorandum last December 22, 2021, cancelling land travel from Luzon bound to Mindanao.
In the advisory signed by Eastern Visayas Regional Director Lord Byron P. Torrecarion, only those vehicles carrying relief goods and essential perishable items are exempted.
Torrecarion said that there is congestion at the Liloan seaport due to lack of shipping, causing the increase of stranded passengers and vehicles. Likewise, operation at the San Ricardo Port in Benit, San Ricardo, Southern Leyte has been suspended due to the damage caused by super Typhoon Odette.
The temporary suspension of land travel is effective until further notice, the directive said.
