The Department of Health confirmed new cases of the Omicron Covid-19 variant in the Philippines reportedly last December 16.
The first case was a symptomatic, Returning Overseas Filipino (ROF) from Japan via Philippine Airlines flight number 0427 arriving last December 5th, and was tested positive on December 7th. The second case was a Nigerian national who arrived from Nigeria via Oman Air flight number WY843 who also tested positive on December 7. One of them was fully vaccinated while the other is unvaccinated.
The third case was a 36-year-old, male, a returning overseas Filipino who arrived last November 28 via Qatar Airways 924 and was tested positive for Covid last December 5. He finished his isolation last December 16 and traveled home to Cavite last December 17. On December 18, he turned positive of the Omicron variant on Genome sequencing test.
