At about 10 o’clock in the morning on October 21, 2021 operatives of Southern Leyte Police Drug Enforcement Unit led by Police Lieutenant Maja C. Beringuel and 4th Platoon, 1st Southern Leyte Police Mobile Force Company with Maasin City Police Station Police Lieutenant Romeo V. Labata, DCOP, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 8, conducted a buy-bust operation and arrested a delivery rider at barangay Ibarra, Maasin City.
According to police report, the 25-year-old delivery rider of a popular courier company in Maasin City, a resident of barangay Combado, Maasin City, is listed in the Street Level Individual Watchlist; that he allegedly violated Section 5 and 11 of RA 9165 also known as “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.”
Reportedly purchased were seven (7) pieces heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu (subject of sale) in consideration of Php7,000.00.
Confiscated from his possession and control were seven Php1,000 bills, one cellphone, one black helmet, a single motorcycle and cash money amounting to Php15,940.00.
The inventory of bought and confiscated items were conducted at the place where the suspect was arrested in the presence of witnesses, Ms. Rudith L. Leonor, DOJ Representative, Josefina R. Binongo and Dennis A. Sulla, both elected officials of barangay Combado.
On-scene inspection was conducted by Police Lieutenant Labata at the place of operation. The arrested suspect and the confiscated drugs and non-drug items were brought to PNP Maasin station for documentation and proper disposition.
