Three farmer associations in Southern Leyte are supported by the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD), under the Department of Agriculture, to grow chicken eggs.
The Association of Fisherfolks and Farmers of Barangay Sta. Sofia in Padre Burgos; Bongawisan Caritas Vendors Association in San Francisco; and Benit Farmers and Fisherfolk Association in San Ricardo earned a total of 613,000 pesos within four months from the eggs produced, according to DA Eastern Visayas.
These associations are beneficiaries of the 2024 Egg Production Projects under the second phase of the implementation of the SAAD Program in Eastern Visayas.
Each association received 480 ready-to-lay chickens, cages, egg trays, and animal feeds to kick-start their businesses. (Source: DA-8)
