MAASIN CITY – A 500-linear meter flood control structure in Barangay Bato 1 is nearing completion, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways Southern Leyte District Engineering field office (DPWH-SLDEO).
“The residents of Bato 1, Maasin City are highly susceptible to flooding before the construction of the flood control structure as the water overflows to their homes. This nearly completed flood mitigation structure will be an immense aid to the locals as this not only provides protection to the local’s shelters, but also to their farm products.”, said District Engineer Manolo A. Rojas.
DPWH-SLDEO has a budget of PHP505 million for flood control structures in 2023. Five flood mitigation structures will be constructed along the critical sections of the province, Maasin City, Limasawa, Macrohon, Malitbog and Padre Burgos.
