Hinunangan wins national MMK award

The Local Government Unit of Hinunangan, Southern Leyte was declared as second place in the Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan (MMK) 2020 National Search for Outstanding Coastal Community in the Philippines.
Out of the 13 regional winners submitted to the central office from the start of the 4th Quarter of 2020, five municipalities were shortlisted as winners. Prieto Diaz in Sorgogon Region 5 as grand winner; Hinunangan in Southern Leyte Region 8 as first runner-up and Libertad in Antique, Region 6, as second runner-up.
The Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan or MMK is the banner program of the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources which aims to promote fisheries protection and conservation centers on the significance of sustainably managing our fisheries and aquatic resources and promotes stakeholder’s engagement to the cause of resource protection and conservation.
Top 3 national winners will receive P30 million, P18 million and P10 million worth of fisheries livelihood projects, according to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.
