Local candidates to compete for 206 seats in 2022 election

SOUTHERN LEYTE – There are approximately 206 elective seats for Southern Leyte and 77 elective seats for national posts in the 2022 elections, according to the provincial Commission on Elections (COMELEC).
The 206 elective posts in Southern Leyte are: 1 governor, 1 vice governor, 10 board members, 2 congressmen (unless directive calls for only 1), 1 city mayor, 1 city vice mayor, 10 councilors, 18 municipal mayors, 18 municipal vice mayors, and 144 municipal councilors.
COMELEC Resolution No. 10713 released on August 11, 2021 stated that there are 18,180 elective seats for both national and local posts which include: 1 president, 1 vice president, 12 senators, and 63 party-list representatives. The local seats are: 253 legislative district representatives, 81 governors, 81 vice governors, 782 provincial board members, 146 city mayors, 146 city vice mayors, 1,650 city councilors, 1,488 municipal mayors, 1,488 municipal vice mayors, 11,908 municipal councilors, 40 Bangsamoro Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao party representatives, 32 BARMM parliamentary district representatives, and 8 BARMM reserved seats and sectoral representatives.
