Local government addresses alarming dengue cases

Provincial Disease Surveillance Officer Joewil Napuli says that Maasin City has the highest death rate in the province with a total of three, and one each from Liloan, Padre Burgos and Saint Bernard towns.
The dengue-affected barangays were Baugo, Maria Clara and Tunga-Tunga in Maasin City; Ilag, Liloan, Buenavista in Padre Burgos and Atuyan in Saint Bernard.
The Department of Health July 16 report stated that Southern Leyte recorded a total of 929 dengue cases. Saint Bernard has tagged the most infected cases followed by San Juan which had 133; Padre Burgos with 108; Sogod with 62; Macrohon with 61; Libagon with 53; Maasin City with 51; Malitbog with 42; Liloan with 37; Pintuyan with 32; Bontoc with 30; Anahawan with 23; Hinundayan with 21; Hinunangan with 16; San Ricardo with 14; Tomas Oppus with 8 and San Francisco has 4 persons infected. Those who got dengue were mostly between twenties and forties, and two cases under 1-year-old and below during the year 2022.
According to Provincial Health WASH cluster command sanitation head inspector Randy Logroño, the team conducted orientation and return demo on fogging mechanics and actual fogging activity last June 19 at barangay San Miguel, Sogod town to prevent rising of dengue cases. (RC)
