Oceana concludes Ocean Month with “Panahon sa Panaon”

On May 31, 2024, Oceana Philippines marked the conclusion of Ocean Month with their event, “Panahon sa Panaon: Isaulog Nato!”. They were joined by partners such as the Philippine Earth Justice Center, Inc., Green Legal Clinic (GLC), The College of Maasin Office of the Legal Aid, who provided information about the law clinic and offered legal advice alongside their student practitioners. Additionally, the LGU of Liloan and DENR recognized courageous fisherfolk members on National Fisherfolk Day. The event also featured a mural painting involving marine biology and fisheries students from SLSU and other stakeholders. Panaon Island is recognized as one of the world’s 50 Priority Reefs, demonstrating resilience against climate change.
