The DPWH Southern Leyte 1st District Engineering Office has completed the Caaga-San Jose flood control project in Malitbog, enhancing flood protection and community safety.
The 600-meter structure, made of stone masonry with reinforced concrete, was built along the riverbanks of Barangays Caaga and San Jose. Funded with P5 million from the General Appropriations Act, it aims to reduce flood risks in the area.
“This project helps prevent river overflow during heavy rains and supports our goal of building disaster-resilient communities,” said District Engineer Manolo A. Rojas.
The initiative strengthens Malitbog’s defenses against natural disasters, protecting lives, property, and livelihoods.
