Philippine Statistics Agency Southern Leyte hired field personnel to conduct the 2023 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF) to gather data from selected barangays in 19 municipalities of the province. Enumerators started field work beginning of September, which is expected to last for 45 working days.
The 2022 CAF is the seventh in a series of decennial agricultural census and the sixth in fisheries in the country since 1903. This is a nationwide undertaking for the collection and compilation of basic information on agriculture and fisheries in the country.
It will provide agriculture and fisheries data to government planners, policy makers and administrators for use in social and economic development plans, policies and programs.
It aims to determine the structural characteristics of the country’s agriculture and fishery sectors, provide sampling frames for the census supplementary modules and periodic agricultural and fishery surveys and provide basic data on agriculture, aquaculture and fishing characteristics for use in national and local development planning. It intends to provide information on the barangay’s agriculture, aquaculture and fishing facilities and services.
