Red Cross tries to break the dengue outbreak

The Philippine Red Cross – Southern Leyte Chapter, in its effort to break the dengue outbreak, mobilized its Health Services Unit with the Red Cross Youth Volunteer.
A series of mass information drive, mass gathering and special events were conducted, such as Dugo Mo Kinabuhi Ko mass blood donation with the 805th Community Defence Center, and Mass Leadership Development Program of Saint Joseph College and The College of Maasin.
On August 25, 2024 a total of 214 units of blood were collected by the 805th Community Defense Center of Southern Leyte, held at Hacbang Gym, Saint Joseph College, Maasin City, Southern Leyte. The Team was composed of 8 doctors, 13 Medical Technologists, 4 Red Cross Board of Directors and 34 volunteers.
Aside from the Red Cross volunteers, the institutions which were involved in the “Break the Dengue Outbreak” were the 805th Community Defense Center Philippine Army Reservists, Urban Health Center of Maasin City, Salvacion Oppus Yñiguez Memorial Provincial Hospital, Leyte Baptist Hospital 4. Corrompido General Hospital, Living Hope Hospital, Maasin MedCity, Saint Joseph College, The College of Maasin, Provincial Government of Southern Leyte, PDRRMO of Southern Leyte, LGU Bato Leyte, and Department of Education Southern Leyte Division.
