San Juan recently marked a major milestone with the official turnover of the 2024 Shoreline Protection/Seawall Project in Barangay Sta. Cruz, San Juan, Southern Leyte. Led by Department of Interior and Local Government Provincial Director Danilo A. Laguitan, the project aims to combat coastal erosion and climate change impacts.
The 26-meter seawall, built for PHP 1.99 million, safeguards around 2,284 residents, including fisherfolk and vendors reliant on the coastline. Local key officials attended the ceremony.
Director Laguitan emphasized the project’s role in strengthening disaster resilience, highlighting the collaboration between national and local governments to protect coastal communities. (DYbañez, Source: DILG)
