The Southern Leyte State University (SLSU)- Bontoc Campus’ Department of Agricultural Sciences reaped a 100% passing rate in the November 20-23, 2023 Licensure Examination for Agriculturist.
The successful examinees, who are the First Batch of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture 2022 graduates of SLSU Bontoc Campus, are Jeralyn Bazarte, Alberto Bahinting, Francis Paulo Diola, Aldwin Sanoria, and Alven Velasco. They are now Licensed Agriculturists.
According to SLSU Vice President for Finance and Administration Dr. Dewoowogen Baclayon, the former Campus Director of SLSU-Bontoc said that the initial first year enrollees of that batch were 80 students, but the university’s retention policy was strictly enforced and the actual number of graduates was drastically trimmed down. He also said that scholarship for students in the university was only for the first section of 40 students the past few years due to limited government budget for education. However, the number of scholarships will increase next school year with the increase in the budget for state universities, he added.
Meanwhile, in SLSU-Hinunangan Campus, there were 5 passers out of the 12 takers, or 41.57% passed the recent Licensure Examination for Agriculturist. The successful passers are Raymart Pabuaya, Jerson Cuta, Jocel Basibas, Lyka Vacal and Kimberly Geniston.
Currently, SLSU-Hinunangan Campus has courses on Bachelor of Agricultural Technology with 170 students, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with 273 students, and Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness with 271 students, according to Campus Director Wade Lim.
Nationwide, there were 3,423 passers out of 10,014 takers, or 34.18% national average during the November 2023 licensure examination for agriculturist. (GMReyes)
