Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) Maasin City campus obtained a passing rate of 83.04% in the September 2023 Social Worker Licensure Exam (SWLE), as released by the Professional Regulatory Commission last September 25, 2023.
SLSU had a total of 93 passers out of 112 takers, 83 of them were first-time takers.
Armando Calapre Hazon Jr., one of the passers went emotional in social media saying,
“We are not wealthy. My parents occupation is classified as blue-collar who earn minimal income and sometimes below to what is minimal particularly after super typhoon Odette. And even now, my father still doesn’t earn enough, which affected me in some aspects. But God is really good. He didn’t forsake me in achieving my dream and this success story wouldn’t be achieved if I only fight by myself. I am so thankful that I am surrounded with my supportive loved ones and significant others.”
Meanwhile, two Outstanding Social Workers in 2022 awarded by the Philippine Association of Social Workers Inc., (PASWI) are Chrisa Gerong and Dr. Lucia Estella Grace Abaa of SLSU Maasin Campus. They were given recognition during the 75th Platinum Jubilee Celebration last September 22, 2023 at the Fiesta Pavilion, Manila Hotel One Rizal Park in Manila. Congratulations!
