Various representatives of national and community print news media outfits from different parts of the Philippines joined the “Reporting on Government Transparency and Accountability” three-day seminar-workshop in Manila last July 28 to July 30 2022.
The Philippine Press Institute (PPI) organized the said workshop with its Executive Director Ariel C. Sabellino and the PPI Staff.
In partnership with Hanns Siedel Foundation, PPI made the three-day seminar-workshop more informative and resourceful.
In the afternoon of July 28, the session was started with reporting on the Participation, Accountability and Local Governance with speaker Red Batario. The session was ended by an open forum.
On the second day, the session had Yvonne T. Chua as guest speaker who talked about Local Government, and ended with an open forum.
During the workshop session, participants were divided into three groups accordingly. The three teams were tasked to make a news in regards to the COVID-19 related funds in all of the regions.
The juries, with Manila Standard Editor Joyce Pañares, announced Group III, where Southern Leyte Times belonged, as winner.
The Mandanas-Garcia Supreme Court Ruling and EO138 were discussed by Mags Maglana. Mapping the Local Governance Terrain was talked about by Carolyn Arguillas and Red Batario.
