Three toddlers die
in makeshift pool

Three young children died after they drowned in a makeshift pool in Liloan, Southern Leyte last December 30, 2022. They were only three years old.
The victims were identified as John Hezron Tidalgo, Aurange Kayel Tidalgo and Jereme Manlimos. Authorities said the toddlers were cousins.
Initial investigation disclosed that the victims were swimming allegedly “without the supervision of adults” at the man-made pool within the creek in Barangay Fatima, Liloan at about 5:30 p.m. Friday.
According to the police, the pool has an estimated depth of 4 to 5 feet.
The toddlers were already “floating unconsciously” on the water when a farmer, identified as Renato Lapiña, came to the area to check his man-made pool. The farmer immediately informed the parents of the victims and the authorities.
Upon arrival of Liloan Municipal Police Station personnel, led by Master Sergeant Alve Ticod, at the said area, the victims were already brought to the Liloan Community Hospital.
However, the victims were declared dead by Dr. Florito Villa, the attending physician.
Authorities are investigating the incident.
