United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) youth advocates initiated a provincial youth caravan for smoke-free policies and programs in Southern Leyte last April 19, 2020 at the Provincial Senior Citizen and Person with Disabilities Building, Asuncion, Maasin City.
The activity was geared to inform the youths and other young people in fighting for a smoke-free community, educating the youths how important is health, and youth responsibilities in protecting the environment, according to Julia Alexandra P. Ibe Programs Associate of Youth Solution Network (YSN) and SDSN.
SDSN Youth is one of the biggest youth non-profit organizations in the Philippines established in 2017, composed of over 150 youth organizations, and 300,000 members.
SDSN also promotes programs such as human rights, and climate action by promoting a clean energy system through renewable energy, policies, reproductive health, and youth empowerment. Its partners are Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Bloomberg philanthropist, Commission on Human Rights, and Tara Foundation.
The event was attended by young local youth officers of Sangguniang Kabataan federation from all towns in the province, provincial federation SK president, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Provincial Youth and Development Office, RSW, PWD, Senior Citizen and UN-SDSN Youth Leadership Board Council Mark Michael O. Unli-cay.
