Youth advisers train for school-based disaster management

Thirty-six Red Cross Youth Advisers completed the 4-day School based Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Training (SBDRRMT) held in Cacao Mountain Resort, Maasin City. All 20 Identified school beneficiaries in Southern Leyte plus 16 District RCY Advisers actively participated in the said training last November 24 to 27, 2021.
The purpose of SBDRRMT is to train teachers on school-based DRRM by providing knowledge, skills for an effective and efficient disaster preparedness in schools. Thus, contributing to the project goal “communities and households on typhoon Haiyan-affected areas to be more resilient while Chapters are better managed and able to provide services to the most vulnerable.”
This training program is a Post Haiyan Chapter Development (PHCD) Project of the Philippine Red Cross supported by the American Red Cross, Department of Education Southern Leyte and Maasin City Divisions. The PHCD Project Team is composed of Churl Stone, Rodson Basco, Leony Miole Angkoy, Arjay Dumalagan, Bethany Simblante and TWG for RCY/VS Jonnah Espina Macul, Mechel Resos, Dag Hjalmar Navarrete, and Gester Egido Revilla.
PRC Committee Chairpersons who facilitated the training were Dr. Genis Murallos, Dir. Danilo Atienza, Dir. Raul Ang Inocando, Dir. Stella Lucie Armada Abaa , and Dir. Judy Mae Gilsano Asis.
