DepEd Sogod holds capability-program for facilitators

DEPED – Sogod 1 District of Southern Leyte Division is holding a webinar series this month to prepare learning facilitators for School Year 2021-2022, titled “BRIGADA PAGBASA: Pagtinabangay Alang sa Pagkat-on og Pagpabasa.”
The district-wide program will take three Saturdays in September to capacitate the parents on teaching reading at home. It will include topics on reading and how to teach them – phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary and reading comprehension. To be discussed are: the importance of reading, reading motivation and the famous ways in teaching decoding – the Marungko approach for Filipino and the Fuller technique for English.
The major goal of the program is to orient the learning facilitators, such as parents, tutors and members of the family who have direct guidance over Kindergarten and Elementary learners, on the simple tutoring and assessment techniques.
The virtual capability program will be done through Zoom meeting and will be live streamed on Facebook Live. For learning facilitators who have no gadgets, the audio recording of the program will be aired on the public address system in the selected barangays of Sogod. Print copies of the PowerPoint presentation of the resource speakers will be given for those who can’t be reached by the barangay’s PA system.
The program is headed by Marlon P. Labastida, a teacher in Lum-an Multigrade School and a former Reading faculty member at La Salle Green Hills. Selected seasoned teachers from various schools in Sogod 1 are resource speakers, with support from Public Schools District Supervisor of Sogod 1, Raul T. Duarte.
