International divers explore Sogod Bay

The Philippine International Dive Expo (PHIDEX) diving enthusiasts went on a post-tour expedition from February 26 – March 1, 2024 in the depths of Sogod Bay, Southern Leyte. Sogod Bay is known for its awesome natural landscapes and rich marine biodiversity.
The post-tour itinerary showcased the municipalities along the coastlines of Sogod Bay – Padre Burgos, Limasawa, Malitbog, Tomas Oppus, Bontoc, Sogod, Libagon, Liloan, San Francisco, Pintuyan, and San Ricardo.
The PHIDEX connected with local tourism stakeholders during the post-tour expedition, with the intention to promote collaboration and sustainable tourism practices that benefit both the environment and local communities.
The immersive experiences and collaborative efforts with tourism stakeholders by PHIDEX reaffirmed its commitment to showcase the Philippines as a premier diving destination while preserving its natural heritage for generations to come.
The post-tour participants who experienced the waters of Sogod Bay were Jasmin Langhammer (AQUAVENTURE TAUCHREISEN GMBH- Germany), Jongsub Park (BSAC KOREA /KDEC Korea) and Oshim Somers (a Cannes Festival awardee film maker).
Among the most active stakeholders on dive tourism in Southern Leyte are Phil and Darlene McGuire of Sogod Bay Scuba Resort, and Gunther and Alona Mosch of Southern Leyte Divers.
