The first Maasin City Cycling Club, founded in 1984, participated in a biking for a cause event titled “Sikad for Limasawa” last February 25. The funds raised were donated to selected beneficiaries of Limasawa Island, whose houses were destroyed during Typhoon Odette last December 16, 2021.
It is a nationwide event headed by the Philippine Army, Maasin City Cycling Club and YBJAI cycling group composed of young people and professionals.
“Fun riding is good for the health and nakatabang pa mi… I encourage all of my co-attorneys and all youth to participate at any cycling event. It is healthy,” says Atty. Vincent Rodas in an interview.
More than 100 participants attended the fun ride drive. The amount raised was handed to the 14th Infantry Battalion representative for purchasing the housing materials of selected beneficiaries in reconstructing their houses.
The route started at Anatalio Gaviola Plaza and onwards to barangay Pasay, Pasay to barangay Panan-awan and back to Anatalio Gaviola plaza.
The Maasin City Cycling Club has Bong Capao as President, Frank Kangleon as Vice-president, Jocelyn Leonor as Secretary, Alejandro Leonor as Treasurer, and Atty. Vincent Abril Rodas as legal counsel. The YBJAI cycling group is headed by Joey Alcober. (RCabodbod)
