Husband and wife with two children went to Cebu for medical and recreational reasons. This family of four resided in Barangay Sto. Rosario, Macrohon, Southern Leyte.
Three of them died when the family, riding in their black sedan, met an accident in Danao, Cebu last Febuary 21, 2023. Their car collided with a wing van along the national highway of Barangay Dunggoan, Danao City, according to the police report.
Relatives said that the family also wanted to spend quality time at the Cebu Safari and Adventures Park. Friends and neighbors also commented about the danger of driving one’s car in the highway that is busy with big trucks plying that route.
The identified family members who died were Erwin Bacalso Mondejar, father and a seafarer; Imelda Mondejar, mother and an elementary school teacher; and son Erin Bliss Mondejar. The lone survivor of the accident is Imer Betelquese Mondejar.
The suspect Nolin Batobalonos, 26-year-old driver of the Isuzu truck, is said to be under investigation by the Danao City Police Station.
