SLSU aims for metaverse university level

TOMAS OPPUS, Southern Leyte – The Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) held its annual Kapihan at the Tomas Oppus Campus last February 27, 2023. Leading the activity was its new university president, Dr. Jude A. Duarte, who said, “To be a metaverse university, to upgrade ourselves into metaverse leaders with meta perspective.”
The university will focus on advanced technologies such as implementing a hybrid learning system, typhoon-proof and solarized-roof buildings on all campuses, and being a green university,” Duarte said on his term.
“We will start designing the University of the future, by upgrading our buildings, and faculties and changing its curriculum.” Duarte is keen to start in a hybrid learning system where the students and teachers can have their classes at home.”
Present were Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Anabelle M. Hufalar; Vice President for Administration and Finance, Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes; Vice President for Research Innovation and Extension Services, Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy; and Vice President for Students and Auxiliary Services and concurrently Campus Director for SLSU-Bontoc campus, Dr. Dewowoogen P. Baclayon. Also present were the campus directors who showcased their accomplishments during the school year: Dr. Gary D. Garcia, San Juan; Dr. Maria Estela E. Roa, Maasin City; Master Wade C. Lim, Hinunangan, and Dr. Constantito G. Medilo, Jr. Tomas Oppus.
Other SLSU officers, faculty and students also attended the Kapihan, with a good number of the people from the media. (RCabodbod)
