Granular lockdown grips Maasin City

Maasin City had experienced rising new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in certain areas of the city, with 24 cases on August 22 and 19 cases on August 25, which account to 50% COVID-19 cases in the entire province of Southern Leyte. As a result, after assessment and identification by the city’s Inter-Agency Task Force, Mayor Nacional Mercado issued Executive Order No. 39 last August 24, 2021, declaring five barangays in Maasin City under varying containment zones and declaring areas with varying community quarantine until September 3, 2021.
Declared under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) and posted on social media by LGU Maasin are: Barangay Asuncion (Visayan Compound); Barangay Bilibol (Bernadez Residence); Barangay Combado (Joyce Fashion Shop, Degamo and Bolo Residences); Barangay Guadalupe (Codal Residence); and Barangay Tagnipa (Aragon and Lacuna Residences). These areas are also considered as Critical Zones.
Extreme restrictive movements and perimeter control are imposed on these areas under ECQ . However, they are provided with food, water and health care, or have access to basic essentials.
Establishments in these areas are not allowed to operate during the quarantine period.
All individuals are required to always stay at home, except for emergency instances such as medical and surgical procedures and treatments. All close contacts were tested for Covid-19, and were highly monitored. A liquor ban was strictly imposed.
The Buffer Zones and under General Community Quarantine are: Purok Caimito of barangay Asuncion, Purok Dos of barangay Bilibol; puroks Tambis, Sambag and Mangga of barangay Combado; puroks Cadena de Amor and Rosal of barangay Tagnipa; and Purok Dilis of barangay Guadalupe. Limitations for these areas are: observance of minimum health protocols, transportation services at reduced capacity, operation of industries stated in Omnibus Guidelines shall be allowed to operate, subject to health protocols.
The executive order is effective for August 24 until September 3.
