Maasin City Christmas highlights Santa Village

Christmas is fast approaching, and local governments everywhere are in a cheerful competition to transform their surroundings into enchanting wonderlands. This December tradition captivates the public’s attention, turning each city into a dazzling spectacle.
In the heart of the holiday fervor is Maasin City, where the local government is orchestrating a magnificent display of Christmas decorations in the City Plaza. Atty. Chen Abrea, the City Tourism Officer, shared that the festive preparations kicked off on the first day of December, marking the official commencement of the annual lighting of Christmas attractions across the city.
Reflecting on last year’s enchanting Disney Princess theme, Atty. Abrea revealed that this year’s unanimous choice was a Santa Village-themed spectacle. Among the captivating designs are a charming miniature Santa House and a Santa Claus display, weaving their magic throughout the plaza.
Adding to the festive spirit, the LGU plans to revive the beloved Santa Ride, offering free rides for children from December 1 to 31, running from 6 pm to 10 pm. Another highlight is the enchanting tunnel of lights adorning the path from Jolibee to the CDRRM office, promising a magical experience without any road closures.
The grandeur doesn’t stop with decorations; a captivating program is in store for the Ceremonial Lighting. Maasinhon dancers will showcase their talent through a mesmerizing Mob Dance, and as the program concludes, the night sky will come alive with a dazzling fireworks display.
Beyond the joyous celebration, the underlying purpose of these decorations is to boost tourism and stimulate economic activities in the vibrant city of Maasin. As the lights twinkle and the festive atmosphere unfolds, Maasin City invites everyone to partake in the warmth and merriment of the season. (Source: Radyo Pilpinas Sogod, Dahlia Orit)
