“Prince” Pagara comeback set

SLT 1256 – March 16-22, 2024

Twenty-nine-year-old Albert “Prince” Pagara is slated for a comeback match on June 15, 2024 in Cebu City.
The vice chairman of the Cebu City Sports Commission and regional director of the Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines-Visayas, Lorenzo “Chao” Sy, recently announced that he booked Pagara (34-1, 24KOs) for an International Boxing Federation Asia lightweight title showdown with China’s Aketelieti Yelejian (8-3-1, 2KOs).
Pagara is from Maasin City, Southern Leyte who became popular for his successful boxing fights against local and international boxers under Cebu’s renowned ALA Gym. He is now based in Baguio City under a new management team.
He was the World Boxing Organization Inter-Continental super bantamweight champion until his first and only career loss in an eight-round knockout against Mexican Cesar Juarez on July 9, 2016 in San Mateo, California.
Pagara later recovered with six consecutive victories against varied opponents. His career, however, came to a temporary halt when the Cebu ALA Gym closed shop during the COVID pandemic in August 2020.
On December 18, 2020 he managed to win against Virgil Puton by a unanimous decision at the IPI Sports Complex in Mandaue City. And on November 4, 2022 he again won against Allan Villanueva at the Talisay City Sports Complex.
In his boxing career Pagara experienced 35 fights, from which were 24 knockouts and one defeat. He is now thankful to those who believe in him, and hopeful that he can be a world champion again.
